It is possible to choose services with prepaid cards, also known as "prepaid plans" or "prepaid accounts". Prepaid cellular phone cards provide access to services for a fixed length of time in exchange for an amount paid in advance.
No fees can be charged to activate a calling card. Only the purchased minutes can be invoiced.
The minutes allotted to you have an expiry date, which normally varies between 30 and 90 days. If you do not purchase additional minutes, your unused minutes will be lost. The service provider is not required to refund your card balance.
Note that long distance calling cards cannot have expiry dates.
Visit the section on prepaid cards redeemable for specific goods or services to find out about the rules that apply to this type of card.
