You can cancel a registration in a camp at any time if you abide by certain conditions. You will only have to pay a penalty if your child has begun attending the camp. Whether you entered into your contract in person, over the phone or online, the rules are the same.

Cancelling before the start of the camp

You can cancel your contract before the camp starts. Given that services have not yet been provided, the cancellation does not result in any fees or penalties.

Cancelling during the camp

You can cancel your contract while the camp is underway. In such a case, you will have to pay the cost of the services already received. The merchant that offers the camp may also charge a penalty. Such a penalty corresponds to the smaller of the 2 following amounts: $50 or 10% of the cost of the services that have not been received.

Here is an example: your contract provides for a 10-day stay at a rate of $40 per day. You cancel your contract after 2 days. You will have to pay a penalty of $32, which corresponds to 10% of the cost of the 8 remaining days.

Procedure to cancel a registration

To cancel your child’s registration, you must send the merchant the resiliation form enclosed with the contract, or another written notice.

We recommend that you send the document by registered mail. The contract is deemed to be cancelled as soon as the form or notice is sent.

As of the date on which the form or notice is sent, the merchant has 10 days to reimburse you, if applicable.

Conditions to cancel the purchase of material or equipment

If you purchased more than $100 worth of material or equipment from the merchant, you can cancel the contract for the purchase of material or equipment. You must proceed, according to the option that gives you the greatest amount of time, within 10 days following:

  • the delivery of the material or equipment;
  • the first day of the camp.

To cancel your purchase, you have 2 options:

  • return the material or equipment to the merchant; or
  • send the merchant the resiliation form enclosed with the contract or another written notice. In such a case, you must return the material or equipment to the merchant within 10 days after sending the form or notice.

If you cancel the camp registration, you can cancel the material or equipment purchase contract at the same time. You simply have to return the material or equipment to the merchant within 10 days after cancelling the registration. You must, however, have been in possession of these goods for fewer than 2 months or less than one-third of the total length of the camp, whichever of these periods is the shortest.

If the goods are damaged by your fault, the merchant may refuse to cancel the contract.

From the moment the contract is cancelled, the merchant has 10 days to reimburse you. The merchant must also cover the costs of returning the material or equipment.
