Make sure all of the information in your credit file is accurate and up to date. A merchant may check your file in order to establish your ability to pay.

How to check your credit file

You must contact a credit reporting agency. The 2 main agencies are Equifax and TransUnion. You may be charged fees for this service.

If you have any problems, you can contact the Commission d’accès à l’information, which is responsible for enforcing the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector.
