Before coming into effect, all the laws administered by the Office la protection du consommateur are introduced as bills. These bills are studied and then passed by the members of the Québec Parliament, in the National Assembly.
Here are the subjects of the bills concerning the Office that were introduced in the Assembly since November 28, 2014:
- Remittance of deposits of money to account co-holders who are spouses or former spouses;
- Event ticket resale, funeral and sepulture services, time share contracts and credit card solicitation;
- Consumer credit, debt settlement services, high-cost credit and loyalty programs (distance contracts and debt collection);
- Road vehicle dealer’s and recycler’s licences.
