Not all businesses are required to apply the Price Accuracy Policy.
Businesses where prices are indicated directly on the items
Merchants that indicate the price on each item must abide by the individual product labeling rule.
In cases where there is a pricing error or double labelling, the business must sell the item at the lowest advertised price (in the store, in an advertisement, in a flyer, etc.).
Therefore, if you are sold an item at a higher than advertised price, the merchant must reimburse the difference between the price paid and the lowest advertised price.
Businesses where prices are indicated on shelves or elsewhere
Businesses that are exempt from the individual product labeling rule must indicate the price of items on a label (e.g., on the shelf), use an optical scanner at checkout and give you a detailed cash register receipt.
If there is a pricing error at checkout, they are required to apply the Price Accuracy Policy.
