Online Marketing to Kids: Strategies and Techniques

Objective :

  • Realize the influence that advertising exerts on our lives;
  • Recognize advertising strategies used to sell products.

Description :

To kick off the workshop, students will discuss the advertising messages, jingles, slogans, or ad campaigns they like or find striking. Next, they draw up a list of the factors they think make Internet an effective medium for advertisers targeting young people. Later, in teams, they will check out websites and take note of the marketing techniques used. Students will also create an attractive web page for a fictional company using online marketing strategies. Finally, they will analyze a case study on the topic of the marketing strategies used to attract a particular target audience: boys age 11 to 15 and kids age 5 to 9.
