If, on August 1, 2019, you are acting on behalf of a collection agent that is required to hold a permit, you must obtain a temporary certificate effective that date to continue to be allowed to do so.

If your work as a representative starts between August 1 and December 31, 2019, you must hold this temporary certificate to be able to begin exercising your duties.

Procedure

To apply for a temporary certificate, you must create an online file using the Collection Agent Representative Certification Management service. You must provide all of the required information and enter into a contractual relationship with one or more collection agents that hold a valid permit. You will be assigned a file number that starts with "CAR20" (e.g. CAR2019xxxxxxxx).

No fees will be charged, and no exam is required.

Issuance

The temporary certificate is issued from August 1 to December 31, 2019, as soon as your application has been analyzed. Applications must be complete and meet all requirements.

The certificate is only available in electronic format. You can access it from the "Summary" page of the Collection Agent Representative Certification Management service.

The temporary certificate's validity period

The temporary certificate authorizes you to carry out debt collection activities until December 31, 2020, as long as you are employed by or have a service contract with a collection agent. You will then have to obtain a regular certificate before January 1, 2021.
