If a fitness or weight-management centre closes its doors before the end of your membership, you may be entitled to a refund.

To obtain their physical fitness studio permit, fitness and weight management centres must provide a deposit to the Office. This deposit may be used to refund members in case the centre must close its doors.

How to get a refund

Contact the Office to find out whether you are eligible for a refund. If that is the case, you will need to:

  1. fill out the claim form;
  2. return the form to the Office, along with requested documents, including the original copy of the contract, proof of payment, and proof of transaction, such as a membership card.

You should allow 6 to 8 months for the document analysis to be completed. If the total amount of the claim exceeds the deposit provided by the centre, the compensation you receive may be lower than what you claimed.
