Advice
Consumers who buy cords of wood must be careful. Every year, many complain about the volume and type of wood delivered, given the price paid.
The following is a series of tips to avoid misunderstandings with heating wood salespersons and to get the most wood for your dollar:
- deal with recognized merchants referred by satisfied neighbours;
- beware of classified newspaper ads listing only a phone number or whose offers are imprecise (truckload). To really compare prices, you need to know the actual length of the logs;
- ask for a receipt showing all transaction details: merchant's full name and address, wood variety, volume requested, timber quality (dry or green), etc.
