Fund contributions
The Compensation Fund is composed of contributions paid by all travel agents retailing in Québec and clearly identified on the customer's invoice. This financing method guarantees viable financial protection.
The amount of your contribution is $2 for every $1,000 of tourism services purchased from a travel agent retailing in Québec.
Example:
Your contribution is:
- $0.80 if the tourism services you purchased cost $400;
- $2.40 for a total cost of $1,200.
When these tourism services are taxable, the amount of your contribution is too.
These contributions must be clearly indicated on the invoices and receipts given to you so that you know exactly how much you pay for financial protection in case of a problem.
A progressive decrease of the contribution rate paid by clients is anticipated as the Fund's capital, which currently stands at 75 million dollars, will grow. Once the capital exceeds 100 million, the contribution will be $1 per $1,000 increment of tourist services purchased.
