Regulation respecting winter tires
Since December 2007, the Highway Safety Code stipulates that between December 15 and March 15, owners of passenger vehicles or taxis registered in Québec may not drive their vehicle unless it is equipped with tires designed specifically for winter driving conditions in keeping with the standards provided by government regulation. This also applies to passenger vehicles leased in Québec. In some cases, the owner may obtain a certificate exempting him from equipping his vehicle with winter tires.
