Cancelling a credit contract

You can cancel a purchase paid through a loan contact or a credit contract, like an instalment sale, within two days of taking possession of a duplicate of your contract. However, if the second day is a Saturday, Sunday or statutory holiday, the deadline is carried over to the first day that is not a holiday. For example, if the contract is signed on a Thursday, the deadline is Monday.

To cancel a credit contract, you must return the money borrowed or the good bought on credit if it is already in your possession to the merchant (by the two-day deadline). If you have not received the money or good, you must inform the merchant in writing (preferably by registered mail) of your intention to cancel the contract by the two-day deadline.
